Karen retired with nearly 33 years of Federal service, 29 years with the Department of the Army (DA) and her last four years with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). After a year in Finance and Accounting she excelled in the Acquisition career field and as a Contracting Officer awarded contracts in all commodities, services and many major Research and Development and Information Technology programs. Her last position at the Communications-Electronics Command (CECOM), Fort Monmouth was Branch Chief of the Warfighter Support Group responsible for overseeing the acquisitions of six Contracting Officers and their teams. At the Technology Acquisition Center (TAC), Karen held positions as Chief of Policy, an Acquisition Division Director and was appointed the Acquisition Technical Advisor to the TAC. Her diversified contracting experience also included a 15 month tour as the Director of Contracting for the Army Atlanta Contracting Center Puerto Rico Sub-Office at Fort Buchanan, Puerto Rico.
In addition she was the founder of and an instructor for the CECOM Acquisition Center’s Intern Institute, a local training program for interns that supplements the DA Intern Program.
Karen received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Douglass College, Rutgers University and a Master of Science Degree in Contract Management from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. Karen is a Certified Federal Contracts Manager.
Among her DA awards she received the Superior Civilian Service Award, Commanders Award for Civilian Service, and Achievement Medal for Civilian Service and the Outstanding Career Award from VA.
